As of October 1, 2016, Dr Michael Rossbach, CEO of comForte retired from his daily leadership duties and handed over his responsibilities to Michael Deissner.
We were curious to ask him a few questions about his role as new CEO at comForte, after his first few months of 'training' on the job and comForte's presentation at the Technical Boot Camp, San Jose:
comForte: How do you feel about being the new CEO and taking over from Dr Michael Rossbach?
M. Deissner: Dr Michael Rossbach is and always has been a visionary mind. Whenever you take over something from an outstanding person like him with about 40 years of experience in the NonStop sector, you have big shoes to fill! But together with comForte's excellent experienced and well established team, I am confident to be able to successfully address the challenges the future might hold for us!
comForte: What were the key impressions for you in the beginning?
M. Deissner: The good thing is, that comForte is already a leading company, maintaining an awesome corporate culture, practicing agile product development and much more. But of course the products are made for a special niche, so as kind of a 'newbie' in this area, during the first few months, you get introduced to a lot of the specifics of this unique market as well as the technology know-how for NonStop.
comForte: What are your goals for the future of the company?
M. Deissner: With the support of comForte's highly skilled and ambitious employees, operating 24/7, all over the world and in different time zones, we strive for perfection in meeting our clients' needs, 'NonStop'! Of course, I don't have Dr Michael Rossbach's NonStop experience but I will bring some new ideas and insights from my own experience. Especially as I'm not coming from the NonStop community, I can add a different perspective!
comForte: What can we expect at the Technical Boot Camp 2016?
M. Deissner: On the one hand, there will be a lot of news regarding the future direction of NonStop, on the other hand we are very proud and looking forward to launch our new security product! The TBC will also be a great opportunity for me to meet and greet a lot of our clients and partners in person and other interesting people in this special NonStop community.
I would like to invite all attendees of the TBC to stop by our stand!

Henning Horst, Wendy Bartlett, HPE - 'Latest on Data-In-Motion Protection'.
Are you still transferring sensitive data in the clear in your environment, for Telnet, FTP, Expand or application traffic like for ATM networks? Considering all the data breaches as well as the requirements for compliance to standards like PCI-DSS and GDPR - the answer to this question nowadays sure will be NO for most companies. Or will it not? Being asked that question you would wonder how many companies would still have to acknowledge that, yes, they do still transfer sensitive data in the clear.
Wendy Bartlett, HPE and Henning Horst, comForte, will discuss the latest and comprehensive view on the options available for data-in-motion protection for the HPE NonStop, including the recent additions to the toolbox as well as best configuration practices. Better late than never, it is time now to lock your front door against attackers.
Wednesday Nov 16, 2016 / 9:00 am - 9:50 am / Gold Room
Henning Horst, Wendy Bartlett, HPE: 'State of the encryption and tokenization union – What happened and where do we go from here?'
While data breaches continue to happen regularly, in particular the mega breaches of the past years have been resulting in more and more companies adopting means to protecting sensitive data more thoroughly beyond just focusing on the compliance aspect. In the area of data-at-rest protection, tokenization has become one of the key means, in particular but not limited to protecting payments related data. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the ANSI X9.119-2 tokenization standard has been worked on intensely.
Henning Horst, SVP Security at comForte has been one of the co-writers of the standard and will share his insights on the key topics in the (soon to be) published ANSI tokenization standard in this session.
