Visited by around 450 people, the NonStop Technical Boot Camp 2015 in the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose turned out to be an outstanding conference yet again. Although it missed the magic number of 500 registrants, it was the quality of the content, the venue and the delegates that made this event a success.

The Boot Camp started on Sunday with pre-conference workshops by both comForte and XYPRO, whereby comForte focused on Tokenization and the YUMA Proof of Concept. The traditional Beer Bust Welcome Reception in the vendor area marked the beginning of many long and intense networking sessions that never really ended until the Boot Camp closed its doors on Wednesday. Where else do you have this unique opportunity to meet HPE’s brass (from Senior Management, R&D, Marketing, ATC …), together with customers and vendors in one place? Even comForte’s presence with 14 specialists was not big enough to cover all activities.

The conference days were packed with more than 100 presentations – the dominating topic was security, which was represented in many of the breakout sessions – sometimes even in parallel.

One of the highlights has got to be Martin Fink’s keynote about the last 10 years of NonStop strategy: an impressive journey from the mission “fix it or exit” (the NonStop Business) all the way to NonStop on X.86 making NonStop ‘THE best software platform on the planet!!’. And while leaving us with the question “Quo Vadis NonStop?” it was Randy Meyer and Andrew Bergholz who set the vision for the future: “NonStop as a service”.

I walked away from these keynotes inspired with many ideas for potential development projects and a vision for the next generation of comForte products. I explored this subsequently within our team and with some of our customers and partners. This all was and is very encouraging and exciting to me for the future of NonStop.

Overall, the Technical Boot Camp was a great success for comForte. It confirmed the hard work we have invested into our products, especially our tokenization solution SecurData.

HPE mapped out the future for NonStop, where Security (protect your digital enterprise) and NonStop as a Service in a hybrid environment (YUMA leveraging InfiniBand) are the key elements of that vision.

comForte is well positioned in both these areas and we are up for the challenge!
